Fridays are all about fun and anticipation. This Friday’s dose of fun comes courtesy of Strymon and their new Deco Tape Saturation and Doubletracker which is available now for pre-order only. With this compact pedal you can achieve a ton of great tones such as a thick shake, a flange filter, an off center, vintage doubles, harmonics, a space blues, a rocking chair, lagging in stereo, tape flange and a saturated burst. How do I know? Because I watched the video below.
For those not familiar with vintage tape effects, they really were some of the first effect pedals. Giant reel-to-reel tape machines in the hands of inventive engineers produced some of the biggest tones back in the 50’s and 60’s and that’s what this Strymon pedal captures – only down on the ground with a plethora of controls allowing you to shift your sound on the fly.
Two switches allow you control of the tape saturation and the doubletracker separately. Five knobs give you sweeping control of the saturation and volume (for the tape saturation effect) and lag time, wobble and blend (for the doubletracker feature). Put it all together and this true-bypass pedal will keep you inspired for months to come.
