From Rack to Pedal – Korg SDD-3000 Delay

Smaller and simpler is always better when you’re on the road. It doesn’t hurt when you’re in the studio either. More room on the pedalboard, increases the potential for more effects to modify and alter your tone. But, smaller doesn’t always mean better. Limited space inside a casing means that functionality can suffer, controls can be limited and your ability to shape the pedal can fall short. This is especially true when a company takes a rack mounted effect and tries to put it on the ground for people to step on. Is Korg up to the challenge? We are about to find out.

Hammond Leslie Pedal

A few years ago my wife purchased tickets for us to go see Andrew Bird in Seattle at The Showbox. I’d been a fan of Bird for several years, always impressed by his ability to forge songs from seemingly nothing more than few Line 6 DL4 Delays, a violin and some whistled melodies. The perfect sunset could always use a little more sun or less set, the perfect burger could always use a little more cheese and the perfect comedy sketch could always cram in a few more laughs. Life is not perfect and that’s OK, sometimes it gets so close, it just doesn’t matter that much. The same goes...
